The mulberry is a tasty fruit of the mulberry tree, known around the world partly because it is the host plant of the silk worm. There are numerous varieties of this tree, which originates mostly from South-East Asia. Some varieties of this tree family have, however, become successfully established in Central and South America.
The fruits of the mulberry are black, those of the North American variety are red; the mulberry that Berrico imports from Turkey is even… almost white! Its shape is cluster-like, as though the berry is made up of segments. The dried mulberry has a delicious natural sweetness and is used in many baked goods, but it is also used to make wine and syrup.
Berrico supplies dried mulberries in both conventional and organic forms. Our mulberries are sundried – making them suitable for those following a strict raw food diet.
